Myriad Paradigm Press has included my story “Your Emergency” in its lineup for the Mind Candy Too anthology.
Mind Candy is an anthology series presenting speculative fiction revolving around the theme of mind and manipulation, memory and mentality. What if it didn’t work quite the way it does in the real world? What if human thought process was different?
On a more personal note, I’ve worked as a 911 calltaker. It’s a very emotionally fraught job, one that requires an enormous amount of multitasking and the ability to stay calm in heavy situations. “Your Emergency” assumes that if magic were common, magitech would change the 911 dispatching game and change the definition of consent along with it. Think Anne McCaffrey’s Talents/Pegasus universe.
